I said I wasn’t going to do a special post about Rock N Sole Hostel, but it is one of my ‘favs’ so I decided to make a short post with some pics.
Craig and Jody are very kind people. Again, it was like staying at the home of a family member. Jody is the hostess with the mostest, and no detail was missed with her! Everything was clean, and cutely decorated. Her meals were as incredible as the finest B n B!
Last time I was there, they had chickens. They only had a few last time, and a predator got into the coop. They are planning for more chickens, and are going to turn this vintage trailer into the hen house! Love! ❤️
They also rent a similar trailer for overnight. There is a bunkroom, which I stayed in last time. Their business has picked up since 2016. They were full the afternoon I arrived, and I was put in the ‘hiker overflow’ in the basement. They are still in the process of fixing it up. I loved it in there! It was quieter with just one other lady. The bed was comfortable.
The grounds were immaculate and peaceful, with a creek running through the property, and places to sit to enjoy it.
The meals were incredible! Breakfast and Supper were included in the price of the stay, and everything was cooked from scratch. It was a lot of food! It also included dessert! Breakfast came with a cup of mixed, cut fruit, orange juice and coffee.

Meals were served on her front porch, and she even served coffee 30 minutes before the meal.
They had a chemical toilet outside, which they had decorated like an outhouse. When I went to take a pic, there was someone inside. They had somehow used old wooden doors, inserted at an angle for the walls. There was a sign inside that said, ‘Welcome to our Humble Commode’. There is a hot outdoor shower and sink. It works, and everything was very cute. It is an eclectic mix of rustic country and 50’s theme.
When it was time for me to pay my bill, I told Jody that if I didn’t miss Bud so much, I would ask her to adopt me! I didn’t want to leave. I enjoyed my stay so much! I highly recommend this hostel!
The weather had cooled down considerably on the day I left the hostel. The sun was shining, and the air was crisp and fresh! It helped me to leave, knowing I would have a perfect hiking day!
I agree with you, Craig and Jody are awesome. I stayed there last year after you raved about it so much the first time you went through. Gold thing have cooled a bit for you.

It is…with a heavy splash of ‘home’…just enough to make you feel human again.
