The Bates Motel

  1. I remember when I started my hike, you told me I would lower my standards and stay at unimaginable places. After seeing and reading this, you are correct. It is unimaginable. How does it compare to the Doyle Hotel in Duncannon?

  2. Omgsh, yep. I would see the cost as hair-raising as well. I’ve stayed in some old hotels in disrepair, but clean and low-cost. I’ve also stayed in some like this one where the cost belied the quality. Glad you got some rest, but I hope the next hotel is a better match.

    1. All I want is clean with no stale cigarette smoke smell. I think that is a reasonable expectation no matter what the cost. You never know what you are going to get out here, and we are at the mercy of whatever hotel is in Podunkville if we are desperate for a shower and a bed. 😕

    1. 😂That’s a good idea! Surely in these days and times of the internet and reviews, they know people will leave a bad one (and I did on Guthook.) The hiker grapevine travels fast! Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of these podunk towns since we are on foot.
